Queen’s University delegation visits Punjab University

LAHORE: A two-member delegation of the Queen's University Belfast Northern Ireland, UK, visited Punjab University to explore the avenues of mutual cooperation in the field of education and research. The delegation headed by Miss Erica Owden, International Officer Queen's University, called on vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Mujahid Kamran in his office where Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan was also present. The vice-chancellor briefed Ms Owden about the PU thirteen faculties, seven constituent colleges, institutes, departments and affiliated colleges. He said that PU was the oldest and the greatest seat of learning in the subcontinent and it was also examination conducting body of 4, 50,000 candidates including its own thirteen thousand on-campus student, students from 550 affiliated colleges and thousands of external (private) candidates. Keeping in view the interest of the visitors, Dr Mujahid Kamran specially briefed Ms Owden about Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Biological Sciences and College of Information Technology. Ms Erica and Dr Kamran agreed that there was vast scope and potential for collaboration in the fields of electrical engineering and information technology. Later, the delegation met with the Dean Sciences Prof Dr Jamil Anwar.
