Dow University of Health Sciences walk
The annual TB awareness walk by the Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) was held on Wednesday to mark the World TB Day. A press release issued by the institute said that the walk started from Suparco Road and ended at the Ojha Institute building.

Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Vice Chancellor DUHS Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, Special Secretary Health Dr Abdul Majid and Ojha Institute Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Director led the walk which was attended by eminent citizens; Ulema, representatives of local union councils, doctors and paramedical staff.

Dr Sagheer said that the spread of TB was favored by poverty, ignorance, unhealthy environment and pollution. “Every year, 85000 healthy persons got infected with TB in Sindh and 15000 died of the disease. The provincial government is taking serious steps eliminate TB and also has health facilities that are equipped with diagnostic and treatment facilities,” he added. On the occasion, Dr Sagheer inaugurated the TB research cell at the Ojha Institute established in collaboration with a pharmaceutical company. The news
