BISE Lahore issues roll number slips GCU students

LAHORE:THE Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore issued the roll number slips to 36 students of Government College University (GCU) on the order of Lahore High Court on Friday.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday had directed the BISE Lahore to immediately issue roll number slips to GCU students who were denied slips by the board, as university administration had told them that they were short of 75 percent attendance. Meanwhile, a number of students protested outside the BISE Lahore for not issuing the roll number slips to them.

BISE Controller of Examinations Prof Manzur-ul-Hassan Niazi said in compliance of the directions of the Lahore High Court, the roll number slips were issued to the petitioners who were 36 in number.

To a question, he said the remaining GCU students could not be issued roll number slips, as they were not the petitioners.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Intermediate Annual Examinations 2010 under the BISE Lahore and rest of the seven boards of the Punjab will commence from Saturday (today).

Prof Niazi said around 270000 candidates would appear in the exams from BISE Lahore, adding 557 examination centres had been set up in the jurisdiction of the board. The News
