Sacked UHS Employees put children on sale
LAHORE:THE sacked employees of the University of Health Sciences on Thursday put their ‘children on sale’ due to starvation following their termination from service for raising voice for regularisation of their service in the varsity.

They were staging a protest demonstration at Chairing Cross on The Mall consecutively for nearly three months against the varsity administration’s act not to regularise its grade 1 to 15 employees in violation of the orders of the Punjab government and recommendations of the UHS Board of Governors in this regard. They displayed banners and placards for selling their children at a time when session in the Punjab Assembly was in progress simultaneously.

The employees along with their children were chanting slogans for restoration of their employment and regularisation of their services.

They said that following termination of their employment and stalling of salaries by the UHS, they were unable to make their both ends meet. “Our families and children are suffering from starvation, as we are unable to feed our families,” they lamented, adding that their children were also expelled from their schools for non-payment of fees.

“We are unable to bring milk for our children besides being unable to pay rent of our houses and school fees of our children,” they added.

They also condemned the University of Health Sciences administration for closing university’s gates and deploying police to prevent the employees who were protesting for regularization.

The prolonged protest under sizzling sun by the UHS employees during the last three months has so far failed to move provincial government authorities.

“The provincial government must stop this economic killing of the employees and their families,” they added.

They urged the provincial government and Members of the Punjab Assembly to intervene and order UHS authorities to regularise the services of its employees.

The University of Health Sciences employees have vowed to continue protest demonstration till the fulfillment of their just demand of regularisation. The news
