National College of Arts graduate Exhibition at Nairang
LAHORE, June 18: An exhibition of photographs titled ‘Conversations’ by Rubab Waheed, a graduate from the National College of Arts, opened at Nairang Art Gallery, Jail Road, on Friday.

As many as 35 photographs were on display covering a panorama of places located in western countries.

Ms Waheed is an interior designer by profession and practices the art of photographic expressions as a medium she finds quite close to her heart.

The photographs in the show captured viewers’ interest by taking one through a remarkable traverse of artist’s journey from the length and breadth of her design to the depths of assorted expeditions.

Ms Waheed graduated with her masters in interior architecture, specialising in experimental spaces. The show celebrated her keen study of spatial encounters as observed in our natural habitat by relating it to the basics of architecture. She creates a distinctive visual style characterised by dynamics, often complex compositions portrayed by an unusual intellect of spaciousness.

There were photographs of Street Carnival, Copenhagen, Garden of Exile, Berlin, Holocaust Memorial, Berlin, International Waters, Finland, River Thames, London, and more such sights from Barcelona, Sweden, Philadelphia and other places.

The printing quality of photographs was excellent.

Ms Waheed told Dawn the exhibition was her first solo show. She did graduation in architecture from the NCA in 2005 and later did her masters in architecture from Philadelphia. Photography is her passion, and she did a course in photography from the NCA.

She has participated in many group shows both in the country and abroad. Places and nature were nicely captured through the lens of the camera. The roving eye of the artist has captured some beautiful moments and international locations in her photographs. The exhibition will remain open till June 23.Dawn
