Federal Board Result Girls outshine boys

ISLAMABAD: Girls outshined boys by clinching top positions in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC-Part II) annual examinations held under the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).

Manifesting growing trend of female education, particularly in the science disciplines, three female students topped the science group with Hareem Nisar of Hitec School and College for Girls, Taxila standing first by obtaining 1018 marks, Nimra Sadiq of Air Base Inter College Mushaf, Sargodha Cantt standing second and Mahnoor Amin of Hitec School and College for Girls, Taxila clinching third position by securing 1016 and 1015 marks respectively.

In humanities group, Afshan Zehra of HH Shaikh Rashid Al Makhtoum Pakistan School, UAE secured first position by obtaining 946 marks and Ryehah Batool Shah of CDA Model School, Islamabad secured second position by obtaining 926 marks.

Hafiz Ahmad Ali of Institute of Islamic Sciences, Satra Meel, Islamabad, the lone male among the position holders, bagged third position by securing 918 marks.

Out of the total 56,561 students, who appeared in the examinations, 44,337 got through with pass percentage standing at 78.69.

Out of the total 43,506 regular candidates, 38,615 passed against 5,722 private candidates.

32,745 regular candidates appeared in the science group against 3,933 private ones who could pass the examination while 5,870 regular candidates and 1,789 private candidates managed to get through in the humanities group.

According to a notification issued by the FBISE, around 93 cases of the use of unfair means were reported this year.

As per notification, SSC supplementary examinations are scheduled to start from September 21, 2010. Admission fees can be deposited by July 22 failing which the fees would be doubled with date extending to August 2. app
