Girls outshine boys in Higher Secondary School Certificate examination
Islamabad:Girls clinched the top honours by scoring highest in most of the groups in Higher Secondary School Certificate Annual Examination 2010 announced by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Thursday.

Hina Tanvir (Roll Number 556788) from Hamza Army Public School and College, Camp, Rawalpindi stood first in Pre-Engineering group by securing 1017 marks. Second position was shared by two girls including Wardah Ejaz (Roll Number 5556751) from ACME College of Excellence Sargodha and Muhammad Shahzaib Atif (Roll Number 540495) from Bahria College Islamabad where each student got 1016 marks. While the third position was also shared by two students including the names of Haider Navid (Roll Number 541830) from F.G. Sir Syed College Rawalpindi and Muhammad Awais Ehsan (Roll Number 540393) from Islamabad College for Boys (G-6/3) where each student attained 1013 marks.

In Pre-medical group, first position was shared by three students including Sameen Shaukat (Roll Number 527091) from Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalazar Rawalpindi, Tayyab Mahmood (Roll Number 520304) from F.G. Sir Syed College The Mall Rawalpindi and Azka Zainab (Roll Number 527602) from Garrison Academy, Kharian Cantt where each student got 1014 marks.

Second Position in Pre-medical group was achieved by Saba Zehra (Roll Number 527117) from Fauji Foundation College for Girls Rawalpindi, who secured 1011 marks and third position was achieved by Maimoonah Asif (Roll Number 527309) from Army Public School and College Humayun Road Rawalpindi, who secured 1010 marks.

In General Science Group Javeria Sohail (Roll Number 571663) from Fazaia Inter College Lahore Cantt achieved first position by obtained 1014 marks. Second position was attained by Mohammad Ehtisham-ul-Haq from F.G. Sir Syed College, The Mall Rawalpindi, who secured 990 marks and the third position is achieved by Michelle Mary Gomez (Roll Number 561102) from Fauji Foundation School for Girls, New Lalazar who secured 971 marks.

In Commerce Group Mehr un Nisa Samad (Roll Number 587724) from Punjab College of Commerce Peshawar Road Rawalpindi achieved first position while securing 959 marks. Second position was achieved by Atika Liaqat (Roll Number 587709) from Punjab College of Commerce of Peshawar Road Rawalpindi, who got 957 numbers. While third position was attained by Mehwish Ehsan (Roll Number 587713) from Punjab College of Commerce Peshawar Road Rawalpindi, who got 940 marks.

In Humanities group Mohammad Ayub (Roll Number 500486) from Institute of Islamic Sciences Islamabad achieved first position by securing 925 marks, Mehwish Amjad (Roll Number 510770) from F.G. Degree College for Women Abid Majeed Road Rawalpindi achieved second position by securing 909 marks and Hafiz Muhammad Umer Abassi (Roll Number 500499) from Institute of Islamic Sciences Islamabad achieved third position by securing 899 marks.

According to FBISE 41,820 students enrolled for HSSC annual examinations in different discipline in which 41,261 appeared while 559 remained absent. The total number of students who passed the examinations was 32,638 while the number of failures were 8608.

The number of students who achieved A1 grade was 2,553 while 5,520 got A, 5,295 got B, 10,452 got C, 4,419 got D and 206 achieved E.The news
