Girls bag 12 positions in Higher Secondary School Certificate Part-II exam
ISLAMABAD: Girls clinched 12 of the 19 positions in Higher Secondary School Certificate (Part-II) annual examination 2010 held under the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).

According to the results declared on Thursday, a total of 41,261 students had appeared in the exam out of whom 32,638 were declared pass.

The overall pass percentage of regular, private and external students remained 79.10 against 79.43 last year.

Of the students who passed the exam, 2553 made up to A-1 grade.

In the pre-engineering group, Hina Tanveer of Hamza Army Public School and College, Rawalpindi, secured first position by obtaining 1017 marks, while Wardah Ejaz of ACME College of Excellence, Sargodha, and Mohammad Shahzaib Atif of Bahria College, E-8 Islamabad, shared the second position with 1016 marks each.

The third position was shared by Haider Navid of F.G. Sir Syed College, the Mall Rawalpindi, and Mohammad Awais Ehsan of Islamabad College for Boys, G-6/3, both of whom obtaining 1013 marks.

In the pre-medical group, the first position was shared by Sameen Shaukat of Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalazar, Rawalpindi; Tayyab Mehmood of F.G. Sir Syed College, Rawalpindi, and Azka Zainab of Garrison Academy, Kharian Cantt, with 1014 marks each.

The second position was clinched by Saba Zahra of Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalazar, who obtained 1011 marks. Maimoonah Asif of Army Public School and College, Humayun Road Rawalpindi, stood third by obtaining 1010 marks.

In the science general group, Javeria Sohail of Fizayia Inter College, Lahore Cantt, secured first position by getting 1014 marks while Mohammad Ehtishamul Haq of F.G. Sir Syed College, Rawalpindi, stood second with 990 marks. Michelle Mary Gomez of Fauji Foundation College for Girls, New Lalazar, bagged the third position by scoring 971 marks.

In the commerce group, all three positions were secured by girl students of Punjab College of Commerce, Peshawar Road Rawalpindi. Mehrun Nisa Samad clinched the first position by obtaining 959 marks, Atika Liaquat second with 957 marks and Mehwish Ehsan bagged the third position with 940 marks.

In the humanities group, Mohammad Ayub of the Institute of Islamic Sciences, Islamabad, stood first with 925 marks, Mehwish Amjad of F.G. Degree College for Women, Abid Majeed Road Rawalpindi, remained second by securing 909 marks while the third position was secured by Hafiz M. Omar Abbasi of Institute of Islamic Sciences, Islamabad, with 899 marks.

A total of 5622 regular candidates appeared in the science group, out of whom 1108 boys and 4044 girls got through with pass percentage of 87.36 and 92.88. The overall percentage for this group remained 91.64.

In the pre-engineering group, 8668 candidates appeared, of whom 6298 boys and 2370 girls passed the exam. The pass percentage remained 88.39 and 93.76, respectively.

Similarly, 6776 students appeared in the general science group and 4776 in the commerce group.

The pass percentage for both the groups remained 79.55 and 84.25.

Likewise, in humanities group, 7753 candidates appeared out of whom 1149 boys and 6604 girls passed all the subjects with the overall percentage of 78.36.
