ISLAMABAD, Aug 11: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Tuesday declared the results of Higher Secondary School Certificate (Part-I) examinations showing an overall pass percentage of 52.58.
According to Controller Examinations Mumtaz Ali Khan, a total of 47,495 candidates, including 23,785 females, had appeared in the examinations held in April-June, out of whom 24,973 cleared all the subjects.

The figures released by the board showed that 45,092 students had appeared as regular and 2,403 as private candidates. The pass percentage amongst the regular candidates remained 53.92, whereas only 27.51 per cent of the private candidates passed the exam.

Out of the 22,465 students who could not pass; 10,336 failed in one subject, 6,333 in two, 3,978 in three subjects, 1,251 in four, 384 in five papers, 167 in six and 16 candidates in all the seven subjects.

The highest pass percentage of 65 remained in the pre-medical group as out of 8,721 students, including 6,672 females, 5,669 remained successful. The highest number of 13,073 candidates, including 3,182 females, belonged to the pre-engineering group out of whom 7,925 got through in all the subjects showing a pass percentage of 60.62.

The pass percentage in humanities groups remained 50.29 for regular and 27.72 for private candidates. In general science group, it remained 39.7 for regular and 28.57 for private and ex-candidates while in commerce group, the pass percentage was 50 for regular and 27.37 for private and ex-candidates.

This year, eight students were caught using unfair means and the board said their cases had already been decided. The candidates failing in one or more papers may reappear in the same with the papers of HSSC Part-II annual examinations 2011. The board has set September 9 as the last date for receipt of applications for rechecking of the papers.

It also indicated the results of 49 candidates as RL (result later on) which will be declared on completion of requirements by the candidates. Dawn
