Wafaqul Madaris demands permanent ban on Facebook
Rawalpindi, Aug 24: Deputy Secretary General of Wafaqul Madaris al-Arabia Pakistan Maulana Qazi Abdul Rashid while condemning continued acts of blasphemy on Facebook, has demanded a complete ban on the website.

In a statement, he said if the government can ban the electronic media for airing news going against the president then why it does not permanently ban Facebook for displaying blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

"Is the dignity of the president was higher than that of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). If not, then the government needs to show its inclination towards Islam and block this website permanently," Maulana Abdul Rashid said. He said that ongoing catastrophes in the country were a clear signal of Almighty Allah's anger.

He urged the rulers to adopt a strong stance and quit diplomatic and trade relations with countries involved in this heinous crime. Pointing towards the decision of a US citizen to torch a copy of the Holy Qur'aan on the eve of 9/11 anniversary, he said that the government should protest it and demand action against the plotter. He warned the US and European countries to stop playing with the emotions of Muslims otherwise it would lead to clash of civilisations. The news
