PESHAWAR (APP): Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUPSA), Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chap-ter Monday demanded of the federal government for implementation of 50 percent raise in basic salaries of university teachers. Addressing at a new conference, here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) after a meeting of Campus Joint Action Committee, held at Peshawar University Campus, in which presidents and general secretaries of teachers’ associations expressed deep concern over non-imposition of the 50 percent increase. The campus joint action committee meeting held in the university campus, in which all universities senate and syndicate members also attended, said Dr. Johar Ali, president Peshawar University Teachers Association. (PUTA). All the provincial departments and federal bodies have been passed on the benefit to their employees, but more than 13,000 universities employees were deprived due to non-implementation, he observed. Dr. Johar Ali said that the non implementation of the decision by the federal government is creating disorder and frustration amongst the teaching community. He criticized that the federal government and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani, who is also Chancellor of Public sector universities of the province, over delaying tactics for enforcement of the raise. He added that the teachers’ community had been deprived from the benefit on pretext of marginal resources of the varsities. Dr. Johar said the university administration asked to generate funds by own resources for the 50 percent increase. The university teachers’ have also been suffered from the recent devastated floods in the province, he maintained. He termed that the non-implementation of the raise was complete injustice with them and demanded for immediate its imposition. Presidents and General Secretaries all teachers associations from Peshawar University Teachers’ Association (PUTA), Agricultural University Teachers’ Association (AUTA), Islamia College (Chartered) University Teachers’ Association (ICUTA), Engineering University of Information Technology (EUTA), Class-IV- and III employee’s association presidents and general secretaries of same universities were present on the occasion.
