'BISE refuses Rs .2m award to disabled girl'

Lahore: PML-Q parliamentarian Ayesha Javed on a point of order in the Punjab assembly has alleged that Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has not provided Rs 200,000 to a female disabled student despite a promise by the chief minister.

She was of the view that Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif had invited the disabled female student who got position in BISE exams to the Chief Minister's House where he had announced Rs 200,000 for her as a reward.

Ayesha Javed alleged that the Director General Public Relations department was pressurising the family of the girl to give a statement to the media that she had received the amount but the girl had refused to give such a statement.

She claimed that the Lahore BISE officials had conveyed to the family of this female student to receive a cheque of Rs 10,000, as they did not have sufficient amount.

Responding to her allegation, law Minister Rana Sana Ullah Khan was of the view that it was not possible on the part of BISE officials to deny the amount to the girl.

However, he assured the House that he would look into the matter and would ensure the provision of promised amount to the female student. Rana Sana Ullah Khan further announced that Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has announced to award Rs 200,000 to all the students who got top positions in FA/FSC examination. The News
