University of Sindh conducts pre-entry test for MS, M.Phil programmes

Hyderabad: The University of Sindh conducted on Sunday the pre-entry test for admissions to MS and M.Phil programmes for 2008 session to biotechnology, computer science, freshwater biology, fisheries, Pakistan Studies and sociology disciplines.

The entry test was conducted at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMCS) under the Sindh University Testing Center. A total of 71 candidates submitted their admission forms while 70 candidates appeared in the entry test for admissions to five disciplines.

Pro-Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, accompanied the deans of the concerned faculties i.e. Dr GM Seehar, Dr Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar, Registrar Muhammad Saleh Rajar, Coordinator Sindh University Testing Center Dr Lutfullah Mangi, Director STC Dr Riaz Ahmed Memon, Dr M Raees Ahmed, Director Post Graduate Studies, and heads of the concerned disciplines monitored the arrangements.

She also visited all the four examination blocks and inspected the arrangements taken to conduct the test. Dr Shaikh, while touching the button of Optical Marks Reader (OMR), inaugurated the result process, which was witnessed by all members of the test committee.

According to the result announced jointly by Coordinator of the STC, Dr Lufullah Mangi, Director Admissions Muhammad Ali Roshan and Director of STC Dr Riaz Memon, 22 candidates out of 70 candidates had qualified the test while securing 50% or above score out of 100 marks.

According to the result in biotechnology, all four candidates Miss Fahmeeda Soomro, Miss Naila Khawaja, Miss Najma Mastoi and Miss Safia Lashari secured above 50% score and were declared qualified. While in computer science, among 32 candidates only five candidates namely Aftab Ahmed, Mujeeb Rehman, Saba Nasir, Miss Uzma and Miss Mehreen qualified the test. In freshwater bology and fisheries, a total of nine candidates appeared in the test and only six candidates were passed. They were Miss Shahnila Shaheen, Ashraf Ali, Ghulam Muhammad, Sabir Hussain, Muhammad Hanif and Bushra Ghani.

In Pakistan Studies, among six candidates only two candidates i.e. Ali Akbar and Fazal Khan passed the test. While in sociology, among 19 candidates, five Miss Yasmeen, Muhammad Ajmal, Jameel Ahmed, Muhammad Ali and Zakir Hussain passed the test. The News
