Kاarachi University Students Protest after Bus Robbed
Karachi : September 04 : Five robbers boarded a University of Karachi bus near Qasba Morr and deprived students of their cash, cell phones, and other valuables on Tuesday.
The robbery took place in the afternoon when the vehicle briefly stopped at Qasba Morr to drop some students.
Five men holding pistols entered the bus and held the passengers hostage.
The robbers told the driver to slow down and started snatching female students’ purses. Then they told male students to hand over their cell phones and wallets to them,” said Farhan, a pharmacy department student.
The bus was packed with students, roughly over 55, when the robbers boarded the bus,” he added.
They misbehaved with female students while snatching their purses, and hit several male students when they refused to give them their cell phones and wallets.” Peerabad SHO Abdul Moeed said the robbers took away 12 purses, 12 cell phones and around Rs70,000 cash from 20 or 25 students, both male and female.

Protest
The students later blocked traffic at the Abdullah College roundabout in protest and chanted slogans against the law enforcement agencies and the government for failing to provide them with protection.
The Peerabad SHO said he had told the students to end their protest as “the entire world is being robbed and it’s not a big deal that it happened to them”.
I went to talk to the protesting students along with the Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan SHO and other police officers and convinced them to end their protest. They wanted an FIR registred and when we did that, they left,” the SHO added.
Peerabad police lodged an FIR under Section 395 against the five robbers.
Shocking
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Rabita Committee has described the robbery as shocking and “a new kind of crime”.

In a statement, the committee said the incident was reflective of the government’s failure.

“The Sindh government and the administration have failed to provide protection to the lives and properties of businessmen, industrialists, traders, doctors, and clerics,” it written in the statement.

The MQM appealed to the administration of the University of Karachi to facilitate the issuance of duplicate documents to the students.
The party also appealed to the prime minister, the interior minister, and the Sindh governor to take notice of the incident and ensure that the culprits were arrested. The news.
