University says Pakhtun Students Federation (PkSF) disrupting campus peace
Peshawar: The administration of University of Peshawar has said the activists of Pakhtun Students Federation (PkSF) are disrupting peaceful environment of the campus and the Awami National Party-led provincial government was taking no notice of the activities of the federation.
A spokesman for the Peshawar University told reporters Monday that despite media reports of misbehaviour of PkSF activists with the provost of the university, the NWFP government had failed to take action against the accused students. He said the image of the university was being tarnished because of the hooliganism of few students and PkSF leaders are persistently trying to turn students hostel into a hideout and resorted to highhandedness when the university administration moved in to restore order.
The provost along with the staff visited Hostel-II of the university two days back and found that PkSF leaders had occupied some rooms illegally. When the administration tried to get the rooms vacated, PkSF students resorted to violence and threats before the campus police arrested them, the spokesman added.
The activists of PkSF on the other hand accused the university administration of taking action against them because of the movement launched by the federation against unprecedented increase in fees. They said the administration to pressurise the students raided the rooms where only students affiliated with PkSF were arrested. They rejected the claim that outsiders were residing in the rooms.
