BISE Scholarships for Top Scorers
LAHORE:17 October: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has announced the National Talent Scholarships on the basis of results of the secondary school (annual) examination, 2014.
The board offers the scholarship to top scorers on the basis of one candidate per 300 successful candidates without any discrimination of regular and private students. It offers Rs4,600, including Rs1,000 for the purchase of books, to the day scholars and Rs7,000 to hostel residents. The day scholars get Rs300 per month, while the hostel residents get Rs500 per month.
The selected candidates are required to apply for the scholarship from their respective colleges and the board sends cross cheques to the colleges.
Details are available on the website of Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, i.e. www.biselahore.com. In case name of any student is missing, he/she can contact the BISE Lahore Secretary within 10 days after publication of this news.
Acting UET VC: The governor/chancellor has assigned the charge of acting vice chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, to Prof Dr Zubair Ahmad Khan.
He will hold the additional charge till the appointment of a regular vice chancellor.

Prof Khan is the senior most professor and serving UET’s Department of Electrical Engineering.

He had done his PhD in 1990 from UMIST, Manchester, UK, with specialisation in micro processor based instrumentation, control and protection. Prof Khan has assumed the charge of VC office.
