800 Posts of Medical Trainees Approved
Lahore:August 26:Punjab Health Department has approved creation of 800 posts of postgraduate trainees in autonomous and non-autonomous medical institutions in Punjab at a total of cost of Rs456 million in anticipation to the provision of funds through supplementary grant during the current financial year 2015-16.
The Health Department, on approval of Punjab Finance Department, issued two separate notifications, dated on 21-08-2015, which stated, “Governor of the Punjab is pleased to accord sanction to the creation of 677 posts of Postgraduate Trainees at autonomous medical institutions at a total cost of Rs385.890 million and 123 stipend posts of Postgraduate Trainees at non-autonomous medical institutions at a total cost of Rs70.110 million in anticipation to the provision of funds through supplementary grant during the current financial year 2015-16”.
In autonomous medical institutions, Punjab Health Department has created 38 posts at FJMC/Sir Ganga Ram Hospital at a cost of Rs21,660,000; 100 posts at AIMC/Jinnah Hospital at a cost of Rs57,00,000; 57 posts at Services Hospital at a cost of Rs32,490,000; 24 posts at AMC/PGMI/Lahore General Hospital at a cost of Rs42,100,000; 21 posts at RMC/Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi at a cost of Rs11,920,000; 35 posts at RMC/Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi at a cost of Rs19,950,000; five posts at RMC/DHQ Hospital, Rawalpindi at a cost of Rs2,850,000; 99 posts at NMC/Nishtar Hospital, Multan at a cost of Rs56,430,000; 47 posts at QAMC/BV Hospital, Bahawalpur at a cost of Rs26,290,000; 26 posts at PMC/Allied Hospital, Faisalabad at a cost of Rs43,320,000; 26 posts at PMC/DHQ Hospital, Faisalabad at a cost of Rs14,820,000; 61 posts at Sh Zayed Hospital, Rahimyar Khan at a cost of Rs34,770,000; 14 posts at Nishtar Institute of Dentistry, Multan at a cost of Rs7,980,000; 13 posts at PIC, Lahore at a cost of Rs7,410,000; six posts at Multan Institute of Cardiology, Multan at a cost of Rs3,420,000; and five posts at Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology, Faisalabad at a cost of Rs2,850,000.
In non-autonomous medical institutions, Punjab Health Department has created 30 posts at Children Hospital, Lahore at a cost of Rs17,100,000; 30 posts at Mayo Hospital, Lahore at a cost of Rs17,100,000; 29 posts at Punjab Dental Hospital, Lahore at a cost of Rs16,530,000; 19 posts at Children Hospital, Multan at a cost of Rs5,700,000; and 24 posts at DHQ Hospital, Sargodha at a cost of Rs70,110,000.
Deputy Secretary Budget & Accounts, Health Department, Punjab, said that Health Department had forwarded the request for sanctioning of PG posts, which had been notified soon after approval from the Finance Department in this regard.
The Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab, claimed that YDA’s protest movement across Punjab had forced the government to issue audit copy of PG posts and allocated budget as per sanctioned posts in each hospital. “All unpaid PGs shall get paid soon,” said the YDA leaders and added that it was made possible due to unity and strength within doctors’ ranks. They said that YDA would hold its weekly protest on 27th August 2015 until the acceptance of our all rightful demands of reversal of Punjab government’s decision of privatisation of hospitals; pay raise of all doctors; affiliation of Shaikh Zayed Hospital with King Edward Medical University; Rs31,020 stipend for House Officers; promotions of teaching cadre doctors; release of pay of specialist doctors of DHQ/THQ hospitals and regularisation of contract doctors of SZH, Rahimyar Khan.The news.
