Islamabad:November 12:"The protests began after the student government president, who is black, said in September that people in a passing pickup truck shouted racial slurs at him. In early October, members of a black student organization said slurs were hurled at them by an apparently drunken white student. Recently, a swastika drawn in human feces was found in a dormitory bathroom."

According to the Fox News, the University of Missouri's ethnicity breakdown shows a school average of 77 per cent white students and just 7.1 per cent of African-American black students. There are 6.5 percent non-American students, 3.1 percent are Hispanic and 2.2 percent are Asian.

The Columbia city average shows 84 per cent white people and just six per cent black or African-Americans. There are five per cent Hispanic and seven per cent are Asians.

The 1,262-acre university enrolls 35,441 students, 4,605 academic staff members, and offers over 300 degree programmes in 19 academic colleges. The institution is currently operating with an annual budget of $2.1 billion.
