King Edward Medical University A seminar and A walk
Lahore:March 12:Department of Nephrology at King Edward Medical University (KEMU) on Friday organised a seminar and a walk in connection with World Kidney Day.

KEMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Faisal Masood led the walk and also inaugurated a free camp set up for kidney patients. Addressing the seminar, Prof Faisal said creating awareness about diseases among people was essential so that they could get medical checkup on regular basis. He said timely diagnosis and early treatment could help in controlling diseases.

MS Mayo Hospital Dr Amjad Shehbaz said people should control blood pressure and sugar for protecting themselves from kidney diseases.

Moreover, treatment from quacks and unqualified Hakeems was also causing kidney diseases, he added.

Head of Department of Nephrology Prof Muhammad Anees said the department had been formally working since 2013 claiming it had produced five Nephrologists so far.

Earlier, former Director General Health and MS Mayo Hospital Dr Zahid Pervaiz also addressed the seminar. He also informed about his struggle made for the establishment of Nephrology Department.

Prof Faisal Masood said well-to-do gave more donations in Pakistan and they had provided millions of rupees for dialysis machines and development works in the Mayo Hospital.

Later, Prof Masood led an awareness walk in the Mayo Hospital in which students of King Edward Medical University, doctors and nurses of the hospital participated.The news.
