NUST offers Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programmes extended over a period of five years and four years respectively. These programmes are recognized by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and General Medical Council (GMC), UK. Students entering these programmes are required to have a minimum Qualification of Higher Secondary School Certificate (Pre Medical) or equivalent (twelve years of successful education).
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) (Duration : 5 Years)
The 5 year programme of MBBS is a blend of bio-medical and clinical sciences which are traditionally required for medical graduates to meet the responsibilities of providing preventive as well as curative health care. In order to achieve the objective of producing a high degree of professionalism in the doctors it has been considered appropriate to follow the curriculum prescribed by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council with some flexibility. The course lays comparatively a greater emphasis on the clinical and on the job training during the final year.
