Peshawar University Teachers Association Higher education council
PESHAWAR:October 06: The Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) on Wednesday asked the government to establish higher education council to supervise the institutions and resolve issues related to universities in the province.

Speaking at a press conference, PUTA President Dr Jamil Ahmad Chitrali said that university teachers had started the boycott of classes in protest against some decisions of the provincial government.

He said the strike was suspended after assurance of government to solve demands of PUTA.Flanked by some office-bearers of the association, Dr Jamil welcomed the formation of a committee with University of Peshawar Vice-Chancellor Dr Rasool Jan as its head to help resolve the problems.

He said stakeholders should be given representation in the body. “We called off the strike and the teachers resumed classes from Wednesday. The provincial government assured us of addressing our concerns,” he said. The PUTA chief said that the decision to call off the strike was taken in the general body meeting that discussed the issues thoroughly. “I as president of the association informed the meeting about the governor’s interest to resolve the matter,” he said. The news.
