Seminar on RTI Act held at University of Engineering
PESHAWAR:October 15:  To raise awareness about the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information (RTI) Act, a one-day seminar was held at University of Engineering and Technology (UET) on Friday.

The seminar was organised by the US Pakistan Centre of Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E), UET Peshawar, in collaboration with RTI Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. UET Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion. He lauded the RTI Commission for briefing the senior administration on the RTI’s role.

RTI Commissioner Prof Kaleemullah said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the first province to implement RTI as a law and it has shown a great success so far.  “It’s not a law, it’s actually implementation of the law which benefits the society,” Prof Kalimullah said.

He stressed the need for full understanding of the RTI Act so that transparency is ensured in public institutions. He added that it was mainly due to the lack of clearly outlined procedures and laws within public departments, which create hurdles in sharing information with public. The news.
