Governor distributes laptops among DUET students
Karachi:May 26:Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair distributed laptops among 22 outstanding students of the Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) on Wednesday under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme’s Phase III.
According to a DUET official, Dawood University has distributed 164 laptops to date under the Higher Education Commission.

Addressing the ceremony arranged at the varsity’s Seminar Hall, the governor said the PM scheme was to provide literal help for the promotion of education. He said that it showed the wisdom and vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif that he introduced the scheme to facilitate students and help promote research culture.

The laptops have emerged as an essential requirement for research- based, modern-day higher education, Zubair said, stressing that merit had been adopted as the sole criteria.

The governor, who is also the chancellor of public-sector universities, said it was his responsibility that the universities did not face any difficulty in acquiring funds because progress of the country was linked to the progress of the universities.

He urged that besides curriculum activities, sports activities should also be promoted in the universities.

Earlier, DUET Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Faizullah Abbasi said that the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme had done wonders in higher education institutes, especially in Dawood University.The news.
