Gender Studies conference ends
Islamabad:13 AUGUST:Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will expand research work on gender studies in order to give academic support to females’ empowerment.
This was stated by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while addressing the concluding session of first-ever national conference on Gender Studies that was held here to promote academic research, relating to females’ role and contribution in the country’s socio-economic development.

He announced they will soon publish a research journal on Gender and Women Studies to promote the cause of women. Such event will be an annual feature, and next year an international conference will be organized to construct and disseminate knowledge so as to enhance respect and social status of females. Eminent academician Dr. Anila Kamal was key-note speaker at the concluding session, who presented detailed review on the gender study and its impact on the society. Dean social sciences Prof. Dr. Samina Awan also spoke on the occasion, stating the University has initiated a dialogue process on the role of females. She hoped that the conference’s findings will give useful input to the researchers for their future study.
