PRC celebrates International Youth Day
Lahore:August 14: The Youth and Volunteer Department of Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) organised a session titled: 'Youth Building Peace' in connection with the International Youth Day. With around 200 volunteers, the day commenced with a motivational session by renowned Zaydan Khan which culminated in empowering sessions by the National Health Coordinator Dr Mohiuddin and Senior Programme Manager Asma Nasim. A cake-cutting ceremony was held at the National Headquarters to celebrate the enthusiasm of youth to advocate peace. Later, a youth campaign was organised at the Lake View Park, Islamabad in which brief uplifting sessions were conducted by Programme Manager Samiullah Abbasi and Zaydan Khan. A short skit signifying the importance of peace, unity, behavioural change, counter-violence and role of the youth was performed by the PRC hardworking volunteers. The civil society and youth activists joined hands with the youth and volunteer department to encourage a sense of responsibility in the youth by conducting a cleanliness drive. The first transgender volunteers of the PRC also honored the session by actively supporting, participating and appreciating the PRC efforts. At the end of the session, awards and certificates were distributed to the volunteers.
