GC University a grand flag-hoisting ceremony
LAHORE:15 August: Educational institutions of the provincial metropolis celebrated 70th Independence Day with traditional zeal and zest by organising different events, including national flag-hoisting ceremonies.

At the Government College University (GCU), addressing a grand flag-hoisting ceremony at the university's historical Bukhari Auditorium, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah laid stress on strengthening national institutions of the country. Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasir while addressing the flag-hoisting ceremony in the university urged the nation to serve the country irrespective of personal interests saying this was the way to make country Pakistan of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.  Deans, principals, directors, faculty members and students were present on the occasion. Participants were holding national flags.  University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) also celebrated the Independence Day with zeal and zest and organised various activities to mark the day. The day began with Quran Khawani and special prayers in the university mosque for martyrs and for the progress and prosperity of the country. Later, a flag-hoisting ceremony was arranged. Celebrating the Independence Day, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) VC announced setting up Pakistan Movement Gallery wherein rare pictures of Pakistan Movement and its leadership will be displayed. Addressing the staff during flag-hoisting ceremony in the campus, VC Prof Dr Uzma Qureshi said it was significant to educate young generation about the history of Pakistan Movement. Meanwhile, University of Engineering & Technology, Government College Township and student organisations also celebrated the day by organising walks, seminars and cake cutting ceremonies.

CAA: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) held a flag hoisting ceremony at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIAP) on 70th Independence Day.

Railways: A flag hoisting ceremony was held at railway headquarters on Monday on Independence Day of Pakistan.

NH&MP: National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) N-5 Central Monday celebrated Independence Day with national spirit and zeal and made extraordinary arrangements to celebrate this special day with the road users.

Flag-hoisting: On 70th Independence Day, a flag hoisting ceremony arranged by Women Development Department (WDD) and Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) was held at WDD.

Mural wall: Punjab Minister for Excise and Taxation and Information Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman with Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal Monday inaugurated a mural wall titled “Icons of Independence Movement”.
