Teachers urged to play role for extremism, sectarianism elimination
MULTAN:18 august: Speakers in a workshop stressed upon the academia to play its role for elimination of extremism, sectarianism and maintaining peace in society.
They said that teachers should come forward to determine the right direction for the country which would be helpful to bring peace and tranquillity in the country.
Addressing at inaugural ceremony of a three day national training workshop titled "The Role of Faculty in the Protection of Human Rights and Conflict Management" under the auspices of Ministry of Religious Affairs in collaboration with BZU at Islamic studies department on Wednesday, acting Vice Chancellor Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Dr Bashir Ahmad said that the aim of training is to promote religious tolerance, collateral peace and altruism in Pakistani society.
He said that accumulation of teachers at this platform was meant to find out ways and means for maintaining peace and harmony in the society.
Chairman Islamic studies department BZU Dr Suhaib Qudoos said extremism had played havoc and proved harmful to our society.
He said that teachers should equip the students with such kind of education which could be beneficial for the society.
Dr Suhaib said the Holy Prophet Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH) in his last sermon taught us the lesson of basic human rights. It was dire need of the hour, to review our curricula to inclusion of human rights in it, he said.
He urged upon the teachers to play their part for ending trends of extremism and sectarianism from youth.
Director Ministry for Religious Affairs Dr Kashif Mahmood, Ministry of Defence official Dr Muniba Gul, Dr Mukarab, Dr Saeed-u-Rehman and others also spoke.
