K-P govt ready to confirm 324 IT teachers
PESHAWAR:19 October:The sit-in of 324 project, ad-hoc and contractual teachers at Bani Gala in front of PTI Chief Imran Khan’s residence proved successful forcing the provincial government to take steps for the regularisation of their services.
These teachers had been relieved from service on June 30 2017 after expiry of their contract.
According to sources, the provincial government sent a letter to the education department and within one day the department sent back recommendation for the regularisation of the services of these protesting teachers and 500 IT lab assistants.
They said the government had announced to regularise the teachers and officials hired through National Testing Service (NTS) Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA) for IT labs in the schools across the province.
Fed up by hollow promises, they took a bold step to lay siege to Imran Khan’s residence. The sit-in drew attention of PTI adversaries and the media alike.
On October 14, K-P passed a bill for regularising the teachers. The very next day, 324 IT teachers ascended in front of PTI chief’s home with their demands for regularisation.
The sit-in proved to be a panacea and the PTI led government asked the education department to submit recommendation on the issue.

A step behind school teachers, the college lectures announced their protest outside Bani Gala on Monday. But the K-P government announced stern action against those who boycott the classes for protest.
“We had prepared the reform draft for colleges and asked the lecturers to check, if they are not satisfied, the K-P government will not notify it,” claimed Minister for Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani said addressing a press conference at Press club. “Protest outside Bani Gala is unjustified as the government has accepted their rightful demands.”
Ghani refused the claim of teachers that the government was privatising colleges and putting them under board of governors.
He further said that giving across the board one-grade promotion would put financial strain on the provincial government and open door for employees of all departments to demand similar promotions.Published in The Express Tribune, October 19th, 2017.
