Customs to facilitate PU in research
LAHORE :21Januay: Pakistan Customs will facilitate the faculty and students of the Punjab University (PU) in conducting research on modern scientific lines and study the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) trade facilitation concept being implemented across the country.

It was decided at a meeting between PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zakaria Zakar and Collector Customs (Appraisement) Lahore Muhammad Jamil Nasir here on Saturday.

The VC said faculty, research scholars, PhD, MPhil and master's students of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and Institute of Administrative Science (IAS) and Hailey College needed proper forum for carrying out research and practical study of various policies of the Pakistan Customs.

The collector Customs, in principle, agreed to facilitate the PU students in all sections of the model Collectorate of Customs, Lahore and five additional collectors and 10 deputy collectors posted at various departments in the city, including at the dry ports of Mughalpura, Prem Nagar and Thokhar Niaz Baig, will provide all sorts of assistance required academically to them.

About practical exposure, the collector said the faculty and students would be briefed on how examination was conducted and how declaration of goods was checked and monitored.

Earlier, the collector delivered a special lecture to the students of PU’s Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) and briefed them on the overall working of the department. He highlighted the salient features of the paperless and web-based system, which, he said, was one of the best procedures that enhanced the revenue through good governance and better control coupled with speedy clearance of goods.The news.
