LAHORE:23 January: The 2nd convocation of Government Postgraduate College for Women, Shadbagh held here Monday in which a total of 254 graduates and postgraduates received degrees and medals.

Punjab Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the convocation, he said the department was focusing on providing equal opportunities of higher education to both male and female students.

Members of National and Provincial Assemblies, Director Colleges Lahore, the college principal, teachers and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Twenty-two girls received gold medals, 10 were given Roll of Honour for their achievements in co-curriculum activities while five students received Roll of Honour for their curricular based achievements. A total of 204 students were awarded certificates of distinction.

Syed Raza Ali Gillani said the government was also focusing on providing equal opportunities to girls and boys in their professional growth. He also said the government was giving special attention to the education of women.

He said nations around the world who valued education, research and hard work, were on the top in the ladder of success. He advised the successful students to share their knowledge with their peer groups and society.The news.
