Punjab University Expels 16 Students Clash in January

LAHORE: Punjab University has expelled 16 students who were involved in the clashes which took place in January this year.

The step was taken on the suggestions of the varsity’s disciplinary committee.

According to details, 12 out of 16 expelled students – which participated in the clash on 22nd January 2018 – belong from Islami Jamiat Talba (IJT).

Moreover, five students have pay a fine of Rs. 10,000 each while 30 others have been issued show-cause notices.

A spokesperson of Punjab University, that such strict action against the students inolved in creating unrest has been taken for the first time.

The representative further said that the expelled students can file an appeal against the decision in 15 days. – SAMAA
