Magazine for schoolchildren to be launched
LAHORE:February 21: School Education Department (SED), Punjab will launch a bilingual “Student Times” magazine for the school level students to promote their intellectual ken and writing abilities.

No helping material will be sold in the market without the NOC of Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB). This was stated by Schools Minister Rana Mashhood while presiding over a department meeting at Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) here Tuesday. He said the magazine would encourage them to exhibit their latent potential of writing.

During the meeting, PCTB Managing Director Rana Abdul Qayyum apprised the participants of the launch of a monthly “Student Times” from March 23 this year. This magazine will be published in Urdu and English languages, he added.

The meeting was told that the magazine would be sent to different public schools and libraries and the writings of the students, their parents and teachers would be included in it. The best writers from 6th class to intermediate level will be appointed as magazine ambassadors.

The meeting was further told that the magazine will be uploaded at the official website of the Schools Education Department. The minister directed to constitute magazine committees in all the public sector schools adding that complimentary certificates should be given to the best student writers by the department so that others could be encouraged towards writing.

Earlier, the meeting of a committee constituted on the directions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to identify hateful and immoral material in un-prescribed books and helping material of Schools Education and Higher Education level was held with Rana Mashhood in the chair.

Addressing the meeting, Rana Mashhood said that no helping material would be sold in the market without the NOC from PCTB. Keeping in view the importance of this matter, the line departments would finalise a consensus road map within next 20 days to move further in an organised manner in this regard.

He directed to constitute a special committee to review all the books being used in the institutions of Schools Education and Higher Education. He also directed to initiate police action against the publication of books containing hateful material.The news.
