PESHAWAR:25 April: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Professors and Lecturers Association (KPPLA) on Tuesday staged protest outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in favour of their demands.
Led by KPPLA president Abdul Hameed Afridi, the protesting professors announced boycott of the bachelor of science (BS) and Masters level classes, refusal from biometric attendance till acceptance of their demands, boycott of BS examination and election duty. The protesters announced protest across the province from Monday.

The protesting professors and lecturers Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had announced a package for the college teachers in the presence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.

They said the package had a five-tier formula that allowed BS allowance, MPhil and PhD allowance, principal allowance and hard area allowance.

However, they claimed that some of the perks had been removed from the summery that was presented to the chief minister. They added that the conditions that were attached to the five-tier formula were not acceptable to the college teachers.

The protesters said that the illogical conditions would affect the performance of the college teachers and a negation of the government claims of providing quality education to the students.

The protesters lamented that they were not taken into confidence and demanded removal of the conditions from the summery.

They vowed to continue the protest if the government failed to address their genuine demands. The news.
