PESHAWAR:26 April: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Wednesday approved the 5-tier formula for the professors throughout the province.

This he approved in a meeting with professors at Chief Minister’s House here, said a handout. Provincial Minister for Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani, administrative secretaries finance, Higher Education and others were also present.

Under the 5 tier formula, 37 posts of grade 21, 178 posts of grade 20, 521 posts of grade 19 and 487 posts of grade 18 were created. The chief minister also agreed to the BS allowance for 98 colleges up to 5,000 per month for the professors. He also agreed to the raise of M.Phil allowance up to 5,000 and PhD allowance up to 12,500.
He also approved hard area allowance equivalent to one basic pay per month for the professors.

However, the hard area would have to be redefined. The chief minister approved the proposal about compulsory linking of MPhil and P.HD education to the promotion criteria which would be applicable after five years. Pervez Khattak said the government had done its part of the responsibility by giving them better future prospects and now it was their turn to deliver.
