Students exhibit talent at Fatima Jinnah Women University Women’s Week

RAWALPINDI: Competitions in various categories of extracurricular activities were organised on Friday on the premises of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) in connection with second day of the FJWU Women Week.

A bilingual contest kicked off proceedings of the day. The topics for English declamation were: “Real Education Teaches Values not Facts” (serious) and “I Want a Piece of Peace” (Humorous), while serious and humorous topics for Urdu declamation contest were: “Aao Kay Kuch Khawab Bunain Kal Kay Wastay” and “Muhabbat Aman Hay Aur Ish Ka Hay Pagham” respectively.

Declamation: The students from 14 educational institutions participated in the bilingual declamation contest. They exhibited great zeal and fervour in presenting their arguments.

The atmosphere was charged with high spirits and excitement as the participants tried to win the audience’s favour with their forceful speeches.

In English declamation contest, Hina Nasim of Punjab University (PU) and Shahbaz Israr Khan of Gomal University secured first and second positions respectively. Hadia Rehman of the FJWU withdrew in favour of Mirza Fahad Qadir of Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi for third position.

In Urdu declamation contest, Nabeel Hashmi of Bahria University, Wasim Khan of Gomal University and Osama Hassan of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, bagged first, second and third positions respectively.

Drama: The students of six universities from all over Pakistan participated in this event. The skits were based on central theme of Women Week “Knowledge, Peace and Our World”.

Painting, photography: The participants presented picturesque paintings in the painting competition. The relentless hard work put in by the participants was evident by a variety of paintings.

Usman Jamshed of the PU, Sundas Riaz of University of Gujarat, Sumera Rehman of Government College University, Faisalabad, and Ali Bashir and Madeeha Arooj of University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) secured first, second and third prize respectively.

In photography competition, Usman Jamshaid of the PU, Faisal Irshad of Islamic University of Bahawalpur (IUB) and Ashir Noor of Iqra University, Islamabad, were declared top three position holders.

Flower arrangement: Both male and female students from different universities exhibited their talents in this competition.

The event was divided into two categories: dry flower arrangement and fresh flower arrangement.

First position went to Kiran Nisar of University of AJK. Shahnaz Maqbool from Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology and Ifra Najeeb of the IUB bagged second and third position respectively.

In the fresh flowers’ arrangement competition, Zara Tanveer of the PU, Anam Iqbal of the University of AJK and Shaline Komal of Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi succeeded in securing first, second and third position respectively.
