ISLAMABAD,  (APP):The 31st death anniversary of eminent Urdu poet, humorist, Travelogue writer and Columnist Sher Muhammad Khan (Ibne Insha) was being observed on Sunday in the literary circles with religious solemnity and reverence. According to Aaj TV, Ibne Isha was died of blood cancer on January 11, 1978 in London.He was buried in Karachi’s Paposhnagar graveyard.

Ibne Insha left this mortal world thirty years ago, but his master pieces are still remembered by his admirers.

Along with his poetry, he was regarded one of the best humorists of Urdu. His poetry has a distinctive diction laced with language reminiscent of Amir Khusro in its use of words and construction that is usually heard in the more earthy dialects of the Hindi-Urdu complex of languages, and his forms and poetic style is an influence on generations of young poets.

He is considered as one of the most versatile poets and writers of his generation.He visited several countries and wrote his travel experiences in excellent and unique style.He separated his poetry from prose in his own unique style.His poetry was simple - sans philosophy but having depth.

The real cause of his popularity was his humorous poetry and column writing.

Eminent column writer and poet Jamil ud din Aali termed Ibne Insha unique among the unique - saying his humorous prose eclipsed his poetry.His style was simple,unique and indepthed.

Aali said, Ibne Insha was a good human being, never indulged himself in backbiting.He also never demanded his money back and often write off the loan rarely given to friends.

His most famous ghazal Insha Ji Utthoo (Get up Insha Ji, Let’s leave from here) is a modern day Classic. His other works include a number of travelogues recorded with a distinguished touch of humour,Aali added.

He did BA from Punjab University in 1946 and MA from University of Karachi in 1953. He was associated with various governmental services including Radio Pakistan, Ministry of Culture and National Book Centre of Pakistan.

He also served UN for some time and this enabled him to visit a lot of places and was the reason of his subsequent travelogues.  Some of the places that he visited includes Japan, Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Afganistan, Iran, Turkey, France, UK and US. Insha got the mentors like, Habibullah Ghazanfer Amrohvi, Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Khan and Dr. Abdul Qayyum. Insha spent much of his time in Karachi.

Is Basti Key Ik Koochey Main (Poetry), first edition was published in Aug 1976 and till 2003, 22 more editions have been published.

His famous poetry is including Chand Nagar,Dil-e-Wehshi,etc Travelogues are included Awara Gard Ki Diary,Dunya Gol Hey, Ibn-e-Batoota Kay Taqub Main,Chaltay Ho To Cheen Ko Chaliye,Nagri Nagri Phira Musafar.

His contribution in Humour is Khumar e Gandum, Urdu Ki Aakhri Kitaab. First edition was published in July 1971 and till 2003, 33 more editions have been published. Collection of letters are Khat Insha Jee Kay.
Felicitating the students on grant of affiliation of the college to PMDC, the Minister said that after issuance of notification in this respect, the students have now become legally authorised to appear in the examination and receive MBBS degree.
