KEMU asked to report accused names to PMDC
Lahore:August 20:The Medical Teachers Association, Punjab, has asked the administration of King Edward Medical University to report the names of accused persons involved in harassment of Prof Akmal Laeeq to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council for cancellation of their registration.
This was one of the resolutions passed during an emergent meeting of all teachers of medical colleges from public and private sectors held under the umbrella of Medical Teachers Association, Punjab, at King Edward Medical University/Mayo Hospital, Lahore on Wednesday. Prof Riaz Ahmed Warraich, Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Prof Imran Akram Sahaf, Prof Irshad Hussain Qureshi, Prof Ayesha Shaukat, Prof Akmal Laeeq, Prof Tallat Mehmood, Prof Syed Asghar Naqi, Prof Abrar Ashraf Ali from King Edward Medical University, Prof Ehsan-ur-Rehman, Prof Moazzam Nazeer Tarrar, Prof Hafiz Ijaz Ahmed, Prof Mahmood Ayyaz, Prof Rana Dil Awaiz Nadeem, Prof Muhammad Amjad, Prof Hamid Haroon, Prof Amer Aziz, Prof Mumtaz Ahmed, Prof Ajmal Naqvi and Prof Muhammad Muzammil Tahir, Prof Sikandar Hayat Gondal and Prof Tanvir Anwar, Prof Javeria Mannan and Dr Rashid attended the meeting. Prof Ehsan-ur-Rehman, General Secretary MTA, Punjab, informed that the council had passed several other resolutions in which the members unanimously condemned the insult of Prof Akmal Laeeq locking him up in his office for many hours. They demanded that the culprits should immediately be removed from the university and their training be terminated.
They demanded that an FIR should be lodged against the culprits for insulting senior professor and keeping him locked in his office, intervention in official work and harassment. They recommended contacting the heads of institutions, where the culprits were working, for the cancellation of their registration.The news.
