KU has zero tolerance policy on plagiarism
Karachi:The Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi (KU), Prof. Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui has stated that KU has a ‘zero tolerance’ policy when it comes to plagiarism. During the last few years, after thorough investigation, five cases/complaints related to plagiarism have been disposed off. While for the remaining few cases the university is strictly following the prescribed procedure of inquiry and is in constant touch with the Higher Education Commission on the subject. He stated this while chairing the meeting of the Committee in regard to plagiarism on Wednesday.

The meeting was held to discuss the progress on plagiarism cases. Dr Siddiqui advised the committee to hold awareness seminars on plagiarism for research scholars and supervisors while also educating students about the demerits of plagiarism through brochures and lectures in the forthcoming academic session.

He briefed the members of the committee about various steps taken by the university to check the menace of plagiarism. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Fahimuddin – Advisor (academics) to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. M. Sajidin – Director Quality Enhancement Cell, Prof. Dr. Abuzar Wajidi – Dean Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. S.M. Aqil Burney – Acting Dean Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Abid Azhar – Co-Director KIBGE, Prof. Dr. Aqeel Ahmed – Member Syndicate, Prof. Dr. Mansoor Ahmed – Director BCC&T and Convener Equivalence Committee, Prof. Dr. Shakeel A. Khan – In-charge Student’s Financial Aid Office, Prof. Dr. Jamil Hussain Kazmi – Department of Geology, Dr. Waheed Ahmed – Department of Economics, besides Prof. Kaleem Raza Khan – Registrar, University of Karachi.The news
