Lahore :November 06: TEVTA Chairperson Irfan Ali has said that establishment of Mechanical Technology Departments with the financial and technical assistance of JICA at 18 government colleges of technology across Punjab for introducing DAE in Mechanical Technology will be a step forward in the development of industry in Pakistan.
He was speaking at a ceremony held at a Centre of Excellence established by JICA (Japan) at Government College of Technology (GCT), Railway Road.
The ceremony was also attended by Ambassador of Japan in Pakistan Hiroshi Inomata and Second Secretary of Japan Embassy Shnichi Amada. The Tevta chairperson said JICA, Japan, had provided sufficient grant-in-aid for the construction of the centre of excellence and establishment of mechanical and architecture departments and provision of machinery and equipment to run DAE in Mechanical and Architecture Technologies at the centre. He said public and private sector would benefit from the availability of skilled manpower and hence better job opportunities for skilled youth of Pakistan would be there. Irfan Ali asked the Japanese ambassador to cooperate for development of an organised system of on-job-training for Tevta trainees as well as job opportunities at Japanese companies in Pakistan.
Addressing the ceremony, Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Inomata appreciated the efforts of Tevta management for successful completion of this project. He assured that Japan would continue to support this sector in future also. He promised the Tevta chairperson to talk with Japanese companies for on-job training, internship and placement of Tevta trainees.The news.
