BIEK second-year home economics, special candidates results
Karachi:August 1:The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) announced on Monday results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate Part-II (Class-XII) annual examinations 2017 for students of home economics, diploma in physical education and special candidates of humanities’ regular group.
The BIEK acting controller of examinations, Muhammad Jafar, announced the results in the presence of BIEK Chairman Professor Inam Ahmed, position-holders and their parents.

The BIEK used to organise ceremonies to honour the position holders and recognise their hard work but this time round the board did not arrange any such event. An official cited exorbitant costs as the reason for not holding an event for the students this time. 

However, the acting exams controller said the ceremony was not arranged because of a low number of candidates. “But we will be holding a reception for the position holders of the remaining groups,” he vowed.

Home economics

As per the BIEK gazette, the theory papers were conducted till May 20 and 268 candidates were registered, of whom 264 students appeared and 172 candidates were declared pass. The overall pass percentage was 65.15.

The gazette shows that five students bagged A-1 grade, 39 candidates secured A grade, 53 students passed their exams with B grade while 51 candidates had C-grade and 24 students managed to pass their exams with D grade. All candidates belonged to the Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College of Home Economics.

Bushra Muhammad Asif, roll number 11045, clinched overall first position by obtaining 1,047 marks out of 1,200 marks and 87.25 percentage.

Rahima Akhtar Siddiqui, daughter of Qaseem Akhtar Siddiqui, having roll number 11139, bagged second position with 1,023 marks and 85.25 percentage.

Farwa Fatima, daughter of Sajjad Hussain, having roll number 11055, secured third position with 1,010 marks and 84.17 percentage. 

Special candidates

According to the gazette, the theory papers ended on June 10 while 71 candidates registered and all of them appeared in the annual exams. As many as 70 students passed and the overall pass percentage was 98.59 percent.

The gazette shows that 32 male candidates were registered and they all cleared the exams. The overall pass percentage was 100. It also shows that 16 students received A-1 grade while the other 16 managed to get A grade.

The gazette also shows that 39 female students were registered and 38 of them cleared their exams. The overall pass percentage was 97.44 percent.

As many as 31 students received A-1 grade, four candidates passed their exams with A grade and three students had B grade.

Muhammad Umer Ali Khan, son of Asif Ali Khan, having roll number 394076, a student of the Dewa Academy Higher Secondary School, clinched the first position with 92.81 percent and 1,021 marks out of a total of 1100 marks. Tooba Shahid, roll number 395149, a student of the Absa Higher Secondary School for Deaf, bagged second position with 1020 marks and 92.72 percent.

Imran Ahmed, son of Rizwan Ahmed, having roll number 394072, a student of the Dewa Academy Higher Secondary School, got third position with 1,017 marks and 92.45 percent. 

Diploma in physical education

According to the gazette, the theory papers ended on June 06. As many as 22 candidates were registered and 21 students appeared in the annual papers, of whom 12 candidates were declared pass. The overall pass percentage was 57.14 percent.
