Two KU students expelled for kidnapping attempt
KARACHI: The University of Karachi (KU) has expelled two students for allegedly attempting to kidnap a student from the campus.

This was announced in a statement of the university issued here on Sunday.

It said that the KU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui has taken ‘serious note’ of the grave incidents that happened in the \university premises in the last few days.

The statement said that the VC has expelled the two students identified as Noman Haider Siddiqui of the Faculty of Pharmacy (Evening Programme) and Badar-ul-Hasan Hashmi of Department of Sociology (Evening Programme) from the university.

It said that these two students were allegedly found involved in the attempt of kidnapping a student from the campus premises.

Whereas, Muneer Baloch of the Department of Sociology, who was involved in alleged torture on an employee of admission cell has been debarred from the campus and he will not be allowed to appear for the semester examinations and his semester record has also been sealed, as per the VC’s order.

Moreover, as per the university code, the details of Muneer Baloch’s case have been forwarded to the discipline committee, which will take further action.

It is pertinent to mention that the university’s discipline committee has taken severe action against those students who were found involved in any unlawful and criminal activity.

It has also been decided that if any person/student will be found involved in threatening or harassing any of the academic or administrative staff by any means then severe action will immediately be taken against them. In relation, strict security measures are also being taken to ensure peaceful and academic environment in the campus, the statement added. app
