Pakistan National Council of the Arts  to rekindle love for classical music

Islamabad:Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) has been holding music classes for students interested in learning the intricacies of music.

Programme Director PNCA Mehmooda Ghazia told APP that the music classes have been started to cater to the needs of youth who want to learn music.

The classes of vocals as well as musical instruments started on January 15. Students of the twin cities were invited through advertisements in prominent dailies, she informed.

Renowned professionals are engaged to teach instruments including tabla and harmonium, while renowned singer Shaukat Manzoor is appointed to impart training of classical music to the young.

At the outset of the classes, very few students joined in but gradually more students are contacting to sign up for the programme. The classes are held under the supervision of Class Incharge Muhammad Shafi, Mehmooda said.

Prominent guitarist Nisar will teach music learners about the finer points of playing guitar, while Zulqarnain Kazmi will teach students how to play the keyboard. The teaching classes for flute, sitar and violin will begin from the first week of April.
