In Lahore 61pc pass Matric exam almost 10 percent higher than previous year.

LAHORE:THE Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Saturday announced the result of secondary school certificate (matriculation) annual examination 2009 with overall pass percentage at 61.99 - almost 10 percent higher than the previous year.

As many as 123,291 students out of total 198,899 passed the exam this year while the previous year, the overall pass percentage was 52.81.

This year, 179,381 candidates had appeared under the Part System out of which 112,674 passed the exam while 19,518 candidates had appeared under the Composite System out of which 10,617 passed.

BISE Lahore Controller of Exams Prof Manzur ul Hassan Niazi announced the results in a ceremony organised in the honour of position holders at Alhamra on Saturday.

According to the result, the overall first position was shared by two students, Hafiz Muhammad of Government Central Model High School, Lower Mall, Lahore, and Ali Murtaza of LDA Model High School for Boys, Jahanzeb Block, Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore, by securing 1,013 marks each.

The second position was bagged by Amna Tahir of Divisional Public School (DPS) for Girls, Model Town, Lahore, by securing 1,012 marks while the third position was also shared by two students Muhammad Bilal of Government High School, Kharianwala (Sheikhupura) and Farwa Pervaiz of Unique High School for Girls, Muslim Town, Wahdat Road, Lahore, by securing 1,011 marks each.

In Science Group (Boys), first position was shared by Hafiz Muhammad and Ali Murtaza who also bagged the overall first position in Lahore Board. Muhammad Bilal stood second in the group while he got the overall third position. Muhammad Naveed Alam of Government High School, Chauburji Gardens, Lahore, stood third by securing 1,008 marks.

In Science Group (Girls), Amna Tahir stood first while she was also over all second, Farwa Pervaiz secured the second position and she also stood third among all groups. Anam Manzoor of Divisional Public School for Girls, Model Town, stood third by securing 1,009 marks. In Humanities Group (Boys), first position was shared by Hafiz Muhammad Aqeel of The Islamic Public High School for Boys, Green Town, Lahore, and Muhammad Abu Bakar Ajeeb of Kasur Model High School for Boys, Nasim Hayat Road, Kasur, who secured 921 marks each. Muhammad Naveed Asif of Government High School Nehranwala, Okara got second position by securing 919 marks while a private candidate Iqbal Shahab stood third by securing 906 marks.

Interestingly, all three top positions of Humanities Group (Girls) were grabbed by students of Farooqi Girls High School, Karim Park, Ravi Road Lahore. Qudsia Zahid stood first with 970 marks, Faiza Irfan second with 960 marks and Atiqa Sajid third by securing 959 marks.
