Thin attendance as schools reopen
Islamabad:August 9: After the resumption of academic activities there at the end of two months long summer vacation, thin attendance has been reported in the government schools and colleges of the Islamabad Capital Territory due to hot and humid weather.
These educational institutions had closed campuses for the vacation on June 5. During the vacation, repair and maintenance was carried out in schools. However, work is still under way in some schools.

Many parents have demanded the extension of the vacation for a week citing the intensely hot
and humid weather as reason. They said private schools and colleges in the city would reopen on Aug 15 and the FDE should ask the government ones to follow suit to the relief of children, who were vulnerable to the inclement weather conditions.

Overseen by the Capital Administration and Development Division, the Federal Directorate of Education regulates the public sector education in ICT up to intermediate level. The region has more than 400 FDE-run schools and colleges. The news.
