PBTE Engineering students slam delay in result

LAHORE: Diploma of Associate Engineering students have expressed concern at a three-month delay by the Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) in announcing their revised exam results.

They allege this was caused by negligence by an official in the board’s computer section.

The results for the exam held in April this year were due out in August. The results were to be revised with each student getting an extra 25 marks, but this still has not happened.

The students cannot get admitted to other schools for further study until they get their results, and the deadline for admissions passed in October, meaning they have to wait another year to study further.

The students said they had repeatedly asked the PBTE chairman for their results.

PBTE sources told Daily Times the board recently spent a lot of money on new software to upgrade its computer system for exam results.

They said a systems analyst had not sent the upgraded software to other PBTE branches in the Punjab, and that was the reason for the delay. Sources said he had had inquiries conducted against him before./Daily Times
