Pakistani educators imparted training in USA
ISLAMABAD (APP): A 20-member delegation of Pakistani educators Friday returned back home form USA after the successful completion of a four-week training course at Plymouth State University (PSU), New Hampshire, taking the total tally of Master Trainers to 120. Pakistan Educational Leadership Institute (PELI) hosted the training for Pakistani educators at Plymouth State University (PSU), New Hampshire, which was jointly funded by Idara-e-Taleem-o-Agahi (ITA). Latest tutoring skills were imparted to the Pakistani educators’ delegation during the training session. It was the sixth delegation of Pakistani educators who have attended this program and ITA. The alumni would take the total number of trained faculty members to 120 educators who have already reached out to 125, 000 more educators within Pakistan imparting the latest training skills. The ITA-PSU partnership began in Summer 2004, with the training of twenty Pakistani teachers at PELI. This was funded by a grant from the US Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The success of the inaugural program ensured that it became a yearly event. The ECA continues to fund it through an annual grant. When contacted, Beala Jamil, Chairperson ITA, said the total number of trained faculty members may seem to be a small number. However, the multiplier effect of these trainings is enormous. All PELI Alumni are recognized as Master Trainers and receive certificates of Professional Development upon completion of the Institute. The role of the PELI Alumni is not limited to teacher training. Indeed, as part of the PSU program, they have to introduce a new initiative in their own school or region, she added. When asked whether the selection procedure of the educators was transparent enough, Beala said the selection process itself is rigorous and is based entirely on merit.F.P.Report
