Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan VC Said Efforts Underway For Appointment Of University Staff

Mardan: The recently appointed Vice Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU), Dr Ihsan Ali, has said the problem of staff shortage at the university would be solved in due course.

Dr Ihsan, who was appointed by the provincial government on March 21, was briefing reporters at his office here. He said classes for the subjects of Political Science, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Islamiat, and Mathematics would start in the first week of April, in addition to English Department. He said there was shortage of PhDs in certain subjects including English, Mathematics, Physics and Political Science and efforts were underway to hire the services of qualified staff.

Dr Ihsan disclosed that the provincial government had provided Rs80 million for development works, while Rs132 million had been allocated for the acquisition of land for the university. Currently the university has been started in Postgraduate College Mardan, however, the provincial government has purchased 500 acres of land in Palatoo area at the backside of Sheikh Maltoon Town for the university campus.
