Peshawar Women University MoUs signed
PESHAWAR:11 May: The Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Higher Education for establishment of Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs) at the government degree colleges and capacity building of the staff in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The MoUs were signed at the launching ceremony of establishment of QECs at the affiliated colleges in collaboration with Higher Education Department at the SBBWU.

Special Secretary Higher Education Department, Manzoor Ahmed was the chief guest on the occasion.

Director Higher Education Dr Subhanullah Shah, Project Director, Project Management Unit, KP, Mian Adil Iqbal and principals of affiliated colleges and BS coordinators were present at the event.

The request for establishment of the QECs at the affiliated colleges was made by the SBBWU to the Higher Education Department through Directorate of Higher Education, Archives and Libraries and KP Project Management Unit.

The QECs of the colleges affiliated to the SBBWU would work in coordination with the QEC of the university. These will be responsible for implementing internal quality assurance practices and preparing the colleges for external reviews both at programme as well as institutional level.

The first MoU was signed between SBBWU and Directorate of Higher Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on collaboration to establish QECs at government degree colleges of KP and capacity building of the QEC staff at these colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The second MoU was signed between Project Management Unit and SBBWU on cooperation in developing PC-1 for establishment of the QECs in the government degree colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and execution of the capacity building component of PC-1. The KP government plans to strengthen the QECs set up at colleges for which a PC-1 is underway.

A training workshop for the QEC staff of the affiliated colleges on the structure and functions of QEC and self-assessment of programmes and implementation of evaluation performance was given.
