6,900 laptops given to students from Balochistan
ISLAMABAD:28 July: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has distributed 6,900 laptops among students belonging to Balochistan under the Prime Minister's Laptop Scheme.
The students have been enrolled in various universities and technical colleges across the country, said an HEC report.
Under the PM's Laptop Scheme, students from any income class, area have equal opportunities to win laptops based on the eligibility criteria and academic results.
"However, exceptional interest of students from Balochistan have been observed and more than 6,900 laptops have been already been distrusted to students of Balochistan," the HEC report said.
The report also said that students who had domiciles of Balochistan were eligible for all HEC scholarships schemes. "Under the Aghaz-e- Haqooq-e-Balochistan package, only those students who have studied in local institutions of Balochistan are eligible," the report said.
