No transport for King Edward Medical University (KEMU) students

Lahore: The students of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) have been facing a transport problem for the several years.

The university has two buses and four mini-buses, but only a few of the mini-buses are working. There are some other vehicles in the institution's parking, but they are inoperable. Former registrar Col (r) Masood purchased a bus with a new body for Rs 2 million last year, but it has been parking in the compound because of irreparable engine troubles.

According to sources, the university had a private transport system 15 years ago, but it was halted due to unavoidable circumstances.

Transport soon: KEMU Vice Chancellor Dr Zafarullah Khan said that the university buses were being repaired and would be available for the students after Eid.

Talking to Aaj Kal on Thursday, he said that buses would be available for two routes in the city and applications had been invited from the students seeking transportation.

He said that he was not answerable for past mistakes. He said that the company, which had provided the university with a bus last year, had been informed and it was ready to replace the faulty bus. Aaj kal report
